Intimacy
Approach
My goal as an Intimacy Coordinator is to give support and structure to the filming of intimate scenes – so actors arrive on set confident and ready to do their best work. I love to collaborate with directors, production, and actors to understand the scene’s vision and generate options within actors’ boundaries. I am an astute listener and can grasp creative visions quickly. I’m also adaptive and can lean in and assist with choreography when asked, or stand back and hold space. I believe preparation and clear communications are key to a consensual process and keep filming positive, creative and efficient!
Background
I’ve worked in many capacities telling stories through TV and film (see IMDB for credits and awards). Having worn both producer and director hats and worked closely with actors, I appreciate the relationship between time, money and creativity on set. I understand camera angles, shot flow, and how sequences are realized. Whether on feature films, TV series or shorts, I’ve been there to shoot scenes including nudity, body trauma, stunts and VFX. When creating moments of simulated intimacy, I call upon my background in authentic movement practices and sexual dramaturgy. I’ve done movement training in Continuum and Five Rhythms Dance for over 15 years, and have a good understanding of Tantra. While directing the documentary Weird Sex and Snowshoes, I explored well-known sex scenes in Canadian film. I also bring a trauma-informed approach when working with actors and recently completed a 3-year training in integrating collective trauma.
Let’s Explore Working Together
I’m excited to support productions and actors so they can achieve moments of intimacy that are fresh, impactful and natural. Based in Vancouver/Victoria, BC, I speak French and Spanish, and have dual Canadian/EU citizenship. I have received certified SAG/AFTRA Intimacy Coordinator training with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) in New York and can work on union/non-union shows internationally.
